2K Script Lab

Method

How we test

Every script gets the same hardware, the same drills and the same patch window. If a vendor's claim does not survive that, it does not make the rankings.

What hardware do we use?

  • Cronus Zen (USB-C model, SKU CM00053-C) on firmware 2.2.14, programmed with Zen Studio Live in Chrome. We keep a Windows 11 laptop with legacy Zen Studio 1.6.1 Build 82 for scripts that have not been recompiled for the new toolchain.
  • PS5 (disc model, current system software) connected through a Zen LINKmodule and PS Remote Play on a 2.4 GHz network with a static IP, because Sony's firmware has blocked the direct USB path since 24.01-08.60.00 and again in July 2026. DualSense, wired to the Zen.
  • Xbox Series X with a wired Xbox Wireless Controller. This is the cleaner of our two test beds and we call out when a script behaves differently on PS5 because of Remote Play latency.
  • Display: a 120 Hz monitor in Game Mode. We do not test on a TV with motion processing on, and neither should you.

What is the drill set?

For each script, on each console, on each of three builds:

  1. 50 catch-and-shoot threes from the Park 3 spot (MyCourt / Pro-Am practice).
  2. 50 off-dribble pull-ups from a size-up into a jumper.
  3. 25 fadeaway jumpers from the post.
  4. 25 free throws.
  5. 15 minutes of a live Rec game to check for input drift, stamina behaviour and defensive macros.

Builds: a 6'4" guard with a fast release, a 6'8" wing with a medium release, and a 7'0" centre with a slow release. Shot Timing Visual Cue is set to Set Point unless the vendor documents a different requirement, in which case we test both and report the difference. Shot meter is off, because 2K27 keeps the small timing boost for meter-off shooting and every vendor assumes it.

Every drill is repeated after the next 2K patch. For the launch reviews that meant v1.2 (Aug 28 2026) and v1.3 (Aug 31 2026). Scripts that need a new file after a patch are scored on how fast the file appeared, not on the broken window.

How do we score?

Five sub-scores, each out of 10, weighted into an overall:

  • Timing consistency — 30%. Green percentage across the drills. A script that greens 90% of open jumpers but 55% of fades is scored on both, not the best one.
  • Setup friction — 20%. Time from purchase to first green, number of manual values you had to enter, whether a generator or preset did the work.
  • Update cadence — 20%. Hours from patch to working file, and whether updates are announced publicly or buried in a Discord channel.
  • Documentation — 15%.Could a first-time buyer set it up from the vendor's written guide alone.
  • Value — 15%. Price against what it does, including whether the same file is cheaper on another storefront.

Scores are our crew's session ratings from a controlled but small sample. They are not laboratory measurements and we do not pretend a 0.2 difference is meaningful.

What do we refuse to test or say?

  • We do not test in ranked or competitive modes against other players.
  • We never describe a script as undetectable, safe or ban-proof. None is.
  • We do not download leaked or redistributed copies of paid scripts to test them, and we do not link to Discords that redistribute other creators' work.
  • We do not accept scripts, keys or money from vendors. See the disclosure.

How are prices checked?

Every price on this site carries the date we read it from the vendor's live page. If a price was only visible inside an embedded checkout widget we could not read, we say "see vendor page" rather than guess. Vendors run sales constantly, so treat our figures as a snapshot.
