NBA 2K27 shot timing settings for Cronus Zen scripts: meter, visual cue, release and a latency test
Which NBA 2K27 controller settings every script vendor assumes, why the shot meter should be off, what Shot Timing Visual Cue does to a script's offset, and a five-minute free-throw drill to measure your latency.
Why do settings matter if the script does the timing?
Because the script is timing against a target the game defines, and three of 2K27's controller settings move that target. A script tuned for one combination is wrong for another by tens of milliseconds, which is the entire width of a fast jumper's green window. How auto-green works →
Every vendor we tested publishes a required settings list. They are all nearly identical, which tells you something: these are not preferences, they are the conditions the offsets were measured under.
Setting 1: Shot meter — off
2K27 keeps the small timing bonus for shooting with the meter off. Vendors tune for the bonus. With the meter on, the window narrows and shifts slightly, and a script that was greening 90% will drop noticeably.

Setting 2: Shot Timing Visual Cue — Set Point
The visual cue setting (Jump, Set Point, Push, Release) changes when 2K expects your release relative to the animation. It exists so human players can pick the moment that feels natural; changing it changes the hold duration the game wants.
Every script we tested was tuned for Set Point. Two vendors' guides explicitly warn that other cues will break timing. If you have been playing on Release without a script and switch to a script, change this first.
Setting 3: Shot timing profile — default
2K's own shot timing option (the "Early / Normal / Late / Very Late" style setting that shifts the window) should stay at default unless your vendor says otherwise. The script's offset already encodes the release timing; layering a game-side shift on top of it doubles up.
Some menu-based scripts (Green, Dynasty) expose a matching setting in their menus so you can compensate if you insist on a non-default profile. Most players should not bother.
Setting 4: Vibration — depends on the script
Several scripts pulse the controller on release as confirmation ("Release Vibrator" in the Glory/Dynasty lineage). If yours does, leave 2K's vibration on. If it does not, vibration is irrelevant to timing.
Setting 5: Display — Game Mode, no processing
Not a 2K setting but it matters more than any of them. A TV in a cinema picture mode with motion smoothing can add 60–100 ms of display latency. That is two full green windows. Turn on Game Mode, turn off every motion feature, and use the same input every time.
We test on a 120 Hz monitor in Game Mode. If you test on a TV, expect to add latency.
How do I measure my latency?
The number every script needs and no player knows. Here is the drill we use; it takes five minutes.
Step 1: Pick a build and a known offset
Use a build you will actually play. In your script, set the release offset to the vendor's published value for that build (or, for a generator script, leave the latency field at zero for this test).
Step 2: Go to a free-throw practice mode
Free throws remove almost every variable except latency: no defender, no movement, no shot quality, no stamina, one animation. MyCourt or Pro-Am practice both work.
Step 3: Take twenty free throws and record early versus late
Do not judge greens. Record every miss as early or late using 2K's shot feedback. Twenty shots is enough to see a pattern; fifty is better if you have the patience.
Step 4: Adjust in 5 ms steps
If most misses are late, the input is arriving after the window: reduce the offset by 5 ms (or enter a positive latency value in a generator). If most are early, increase it. Repeat until early and late misses are roughly balanced, or you are greening 19–20 of 20.
Step 5: Write the number down
The difference between the vendor's published offset and the one that balanced your misses is your setup's latency. Enter it wherever your script takes it. Keep it. When you change anything about the path — console, TV, Remote Play device, network — run the drill again.
What latency should I expect?
From our launch testing, with a 120 Hz monitor in Game Mode:

What if the script has no latency setting?
Preset scripts like Hoops have nothing to adjust. If the free-throw drill shows your latency is more than about 10 ms off the vendor's baseline, a preset script will underperform on your setup and no setting will fix it. That is the trade-off you accept for zero menus, and it is why we recommend Hoops for Xbox players more readily than for PS5 players.

We publish this because a script with wrong settings is a script that misses, and a buyer who does not understand why will blame the script, buy another, and miss again. - Off. NBA 2K27 keeps a small timing boost for shooting with the meter off, and every vendor we tested tunes its offsets for meter-off. Turning the meter on shifts the green window and makes the script slightly wrong.

- Set Point, unless your vendor's guide says otherwise. The cue changes when the game expects your release relative to the animation, so a script tuned for Set Point will be off if you switch to Jump or Release.

- Do I need to change the game's own shot timing setting?
- Usually no. Most vendors tune for the default 2K timing profile and handle the release window entirely in the script's offset. Change it only if the vendor's guide tells you to.
- Why did my timing break after I changed TVs?
- Display processing adds latency that varies between sets and picture modes. Turn on Game Mode, turn off motion smoothing, and re-run the latency drill whenever the display or the connection path changes.
