How to set up shot profiles for different jumpshots in NBA 2K27 scripts
One offset does not fit every jumper. How to build separate profiles for your set shot, pull-up, fade and no-dip in a menu-based NBA 2K27 Cronus Zen script, and how to switch between them without opening the menu mid-game.
Why one offset is not enough
An auto-green script holds the shoot button for a fixed duration. That duration is right for one animation. Your standing set shot, your pull-up off a size-up, your fade over a contest and your no-dip quick release all have different release points, sometimes by 30–50 ms. How auto-green works →
A single-offset script is tuned to the set shot because that is what most people shoot most. Everything else misses more. In our drills, preset scripts dropped 12–16 percentage points from open threes to fades; scripts with per-shot profiles dropped 4–8. Rec vs Park →
Profiles fix this by storing an offset per shot type and letting you tell the script which one is coming.
Which scripts can do this?
| Script | Per-shot mechanism | How you switch |
|---|---|---|
| Dynasty | Toggles for fade, no-dip, hop, turbo; profile slots | Modifier + D-pad |
| Green | Auto-Green Fades, No-Dips as separate modes | Modifier + D-pad |
| Prime | Select Build tuning plus shot modes | Menu / modifier |
| Prodigy | Auto Green+ with Tempo+ modes | Modifier |
| yew2K | Generator compiles base offset; fade and no-dip modes in menu | Modifier |
| Hoops | None (single offset per mode preset) | — |
| cronus.gg Auto-Green | None | — |
| Avenged MVP (2K26) | D-pad Go To Shot — the best implementation we have seen | D-pad arm before shot |
Check your script's guide for the exact binding. The steps below are generic.
Step 1: Get the base set-shot profile right first
Do not touch anything else until your standing catch-and-shoot is dialled. Go to a practice mode, take 50 spot-up threes with the base profile, adjust the offset in 5 ms steps until early and late misses balance and you are around 90% on an open look. If you cannot get there, the problem is upstream — meter, visual cue, latency, wrong build values — and no amount of profile work will fix it. Settings guide →
Step 2: Create a pull-up profile
Copy the base profile into a second slot or enable the script's off-dribble mode. Take 50 pull-ups from a size-up into a jumper, the same move each time. Log early versus late. Adjust the pull-up profile's offset independently of the base. Expect it to land 10–25 ms different from the set shot depending on your build's release.
Do not mix shot types in this drill. The point is one animation, one offset.
Step 3: Create a fade profile
Same process, 25–50 fades from the same spot. Fades release later than set shots; expect the offset to be longer. Some scripts (Dynasty, Green) have a dedicated fade mode with its own value; use it rather than a generic profile slot, because the mode may also adjust for the stick input that triggers the fade.
Step 4: Create a no-dip profile if you use it
No-dip shooting (skipping the gather) shortens the animation and moves the release earlier. Only build this if you actually shoot no-dip; it is a specialised input and an unused profile is just something to accidentally switch into.
Step 5: Learn the switch binding until it is automatic
This is the step people skip and it is the one that decides whether profiles help or hurt. If you have to think about the modifier mid-possession, you will shoot the wrong profile more often than the right one. Drill the switch in practice: catch, arm fade, shoot; catch, arm base, shoot; dribble, arm pull-up, shoot. Twenty minutes. Then take it to a Rec game and see whether it is reflexive.
Avenged MVP's D-pad Go To Shot was the best implementation of this we have used because arming was one press and the arm cleared after the shot. Most 2K27 scripts require a hold or a toggle, which is slower. It is a real usability difference and worth checking in a script's guide before you buy.
Step 6: Save, label, and write the values down
Save each profile in the script (menu scripts usually persist to the slot; generator scripts need regenerating). Write the values in a note with the date and the patch version. When Season 2 lands on October 16 and something drifts, you will want to know what your working values were.
How much difference does it make?
From our launch drills on a 6'8" wing, Xbox Series X, same script before and after profiles:
| Shot | Single offset | Per-shot profiles |
|---|---|---|
| Open threes | 90% | 90% |
| Pull-ups | 76% | 82–84% |
| Fades | 72% | 84–88% |
Open threes do not move because the base profile was already the set-shot offset. Everything else gains 6–16 points. An hour of setup for that is a good trade if you take those shots.
When not to bother
If you are a Rec spot-up shooter who takes two pull-ups a game, one profile is fine and Hoops at $50 was the right purchase. Profiles are for Park handlers, post scorers and anyone whose shot chart is mostly off the dribble. Rankings →
The usual caveat
Profiles make an unauthorized third-party tool more effective at what 2K's Code of Conduct prohibits, with penalties up to a permanent account or device ban. Ban risk →
FAQ
- What is a shot profile in a Cronus Zen script?
- A saved set of offsets for one shot type: set shot, pull-up, fade, no-dip. Menu-based scripts let you save several and switch with a modifier so the correct offset applies to the animation you are about to trigger.
- Do I need multiple profiles?
- If you only shoot catch-and-shoot, no. If you shoot off the dribble or fade regularly, yes; the release points differ by tens of milliseconds and a single offset will miss one or the other.
- Which scripts support profiles?
- Dynasty, Green, Prime and Prodigy have per-shot toggles or profile slots. yew2K handles it through fade and no-dip modes plus the generator. Hoops and cronus.gg Auto-Green have a single offset.
- How do I switch profiles in a game?
- Most scripts bind a modifier plus a D-pad direction or face button. Learn the binding in practice until it is automatic; fumbling it mid-possession is worse than having one profile.
- How long does this take?
- About an hour per build for three profiles using the free-throw and drill method in this guide, plus a re-check after each patch.
